In a recent announcement in its home country, the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer - HTC has launched a new budget segment smartphone dubbed as the HTC Desire 650. The main highlights of the phone is that, despite being in the budget segment, the device comes in unique textured background and interesting colour options.

As per people who had early access to the device in its home country, Desire 650 looks very similar to the HTC Desire 630 but with better design language. As it can be seen in the image above, the lower back of the device comes with horizontal design patterns.

Coming to the specifications of the HTC Desire 650, it sports a 5 inch HD LCD with gorilla glass 3 protection. In terms of storage, it has 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage that could be expanded to a whopping 2 TB storage using the dedicated micro SD card slot present in the device. The phone is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon Chipset. In terms of snapping capabilities of the Desire 650, it features a 13 MP auto-focus rear camera with f 2.2 aperture and other common shooting modes and options. In the front, the device has a 5 MP camera for selfies.

The phone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system with HTC's own Sense UI 8.0 on top of it. Needless to mention, the device also features other common connectivity options including 4G-LTE, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS, and A-GPS.

Coming to the availability and pricing of the device, it will be launching in its home country - Taiwan as early as next month for a price tag of $170 which roughly converts to about Rs. 12,000. However, sadly there's no official launch date announced for other countries as of now.

We hope HTC brings this budget smartphone to India sooner or later to compete against the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and Lenovo Vibe K5 Note.
