Install Dropbox on Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin

Dropbox recently got so popular and is being used by majority of user's worldwide. Though as a free user's you can only get 2 GB of limited space that can be upgraded up to 18 GB through referring the same to friends and family. This app is an ease when it comes to sync files between Dropbox servers and your computers. All you have to do is just copy and paste your content to your drop default sharing folder and you are done. According to the size it will get synced and moreover you can access and download these synced files from any computer anywhere in the world. As simple as it is.


Well we are not here to make you count the benefits of Dropbox, but to install Dropbox on Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin. Lets see how you can do that.

Step 1. Open the Ubuntu Terminal and type the following into it.


sudo apt-key adv --keyserver pgp.mit.edu --recv-keys 5044912E

Step 2. Add Dropbox repository to Ubuntu by adding the following command into the Ubuntu terminal.

sudo add-apt-repository "deb http://linux.dropbox.com/ubuntu $(lsb_release -sc) main"

Step 3. Now add the piece of command again that will update your Ubuntu system and will install Dropbox to your system.

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install nautilus-dropbox

Step 4. Now you will be prompted to restart the Nautilus, press next and on the next windows just click on Start Dropbox.

Next you will see a windows that will have the option for you to configure your Dropbox account on to the PC.


                     
Step 5. If you have an Dropbox account already log via username and password. Give your computer a name to be used by Dropbox. Choose the plan that best suits your requirements.  

Step 6. If you are doing it for the first time i will recommend you to go for the typical settings that will guide you through the entire process without landing into troubles.  Finally you have done installing and configuring Dropbox on your Ubuntu PC. The default Dropbox folder would be in the user's folder. Just copy and paste the files and data you like to sync and enjoy !!!!!\
